PhD in Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano, where she worked until 2001, she is full professor at the IUAV University of Venice, where she teaches “Theory and history of design” and “Technologies and cultures of the body” in design courses.
Coordinator of the curriculum in Design Sciences and deputy director of the Doctoral School in Architecture, City, Design of the Doctoral School of the IUAV University of Venice. She created “Frid – Fare ricerca in design”, the national forum of Italian design doctorates, which takes place every two years in the Venetian headquarters. For the School, it takes care of the activities of the annual “Writing Laboratory”.
Active in theoretical and historical research on design, for some years now she has also been involved in the dissemination of the discipline both in the editorial field and in the organization of exhibitions and events. She is a founding member and past president of the Italian Association of Design Historians-AIS/Design, of which she directs the online magazine and peer reviewed “AIS/Design. History and research” (www.aisdesign.org).
She has been a member of the scientific committee of the XX Triennale di Milano (2001-04). She has curated, with Medardo Chiapponi, Made in Iuav. The university of design between research and design, collateral event of the XI Biennale of Architecture, Arsenale Novissimo, 2008. Her project and scientific coordination of the exhibition Copyright Italia. Patents, trademarks, products 1948-1970, Archivio Centrale dello Stato di Roma (March-July 2011) for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. Together with others, she curated the 11th edition of the Triennale Design Museum (2018-19).
