Selamawit will develop a path of personal and shared research on traditional Ethiopian dance. In Ethiopia, dance has a different value and meaning from those codified in the Western world. The working tools she will use are dance (through a series of physical practices) and mixed media arts, with a workshop for the creation of a series of artistic supports called “Artist’s Books” based on the physical experiences she had during the three days of shared work. The last day will begin to build a research path that will lead her to develop, drawing on what was developed during the residence, a practice that is based on traditional Ethiopian dances and that leads her to confront what was investigated.
On the last day there will be a final sharing moment to share the work in progress with the project participants, and in which the “artist’s books” produced can also be exhibited.
